Thousands gathered again in Tervel for the White Harvest Festival (VIDEO)
Thousands of people visited on Saturday the training stadium in Tervel for another edition of the "Festival of the White Harvest - for the Earth, the people from Dobrudja and the bread". Folklore lovers from near and far gathered again in Tervel to pay tribute to bread and folk traditions. The majority of the attendees were dressed in folk costumes or clothes with folk elements. Once again, the custom of 'Harvest' was recreated. There was also a Kurban for health and prosperity for all present, which was again a donation from local businessmen.
For the first time since we have been doing this festival, God has arranged things in such a way that the festival and the actual start of the harvest are in the same period of time, said during the opening ceremony the Mayor of Tervel Municipality Eng. Simeon Simeonov. Also he jokingly warned the harvesters attending not to forget that they would have to reap the next day.
Once again we have gathered to express our respect for the wheat and the bread, to bless our fertile land of Dobrudja, to bless all the people who produce the bread of Bulgaria, Simeonov said. He turned to the farmers, wishing them a successful business year, full barns and better prices than last year. The Mayor thanked everyone involved in the organisation of this spectacular event.
The festival started with an exhibition "Made in Tervel" and a Crafts Alley. Shortly after, the folk dance clubs started their performances, with more than 15 ensembles taking part in the programme.
The good mood of the attendees was taken care of by the local orchestra "Dobrudjanci", together with friends from Dobrich and Varna. The audience enjoyed many folklore performances and the highlight of the program was the "Voice of Bulgaria" Petya Paneva, who sang to the musical accompaniment of her husband Mitko Denev.
The evening included a fire-laser show by the group "Palyachi" from Varna, then the huge festival fire was lit, around which a men's dance was performed. A lavish fireworks display lit up the sky above the town and the dancing continued until the early hours of Sunday.
Among the guests of the festival were MPs Erten Anisova and Maya Dimitrova, the mayors of Dobrichka Municipality Sonia Georgieva and Krushari Municipality Ilhan Mustajeb.
