The festival in the village of Lovchantsi turned into a real folklore holiday (VIDEO)
Hundreds of residents and guests of the village of Lovchantsi attended the first edition of the festival "The Spirit of the Past - Preserve and Pass on to Generations", which was held today on Тsvetnitsa, the Orthodox equivalent to the catholicPalm Sunday.In the event, organized by the Community Center "Svetlina - 1940" amateur groups from the community centers in several villages of Dobrichka municipality - Tsarevets, Vladimirovo, Zhitnitsa, Cherna, Stefanovo, Kotlentsi and Polkovnik Ivanovo, as well as the small bagpiper from Dobrich Ivan Dimitrov took part.
Ivan Ivanov, the mayor of Lovchantsi, welcomed the participants and guests.
At noon, Father Valery celebrated a thanksgiving water service and the hosts had catered for the attendees with a lunch. There were also gifts for all the namesakes today.
At the beginning of the festival program, children from the kindergarten and school in Lovchantsi greeted the attendees.
The program also included performances by the folk dance club "Dobrudjantsi" led by Petar Svilenov, kaval player Damyan Dimov and folk singer Stoyan Varnaliev.
The attending artists could participate in three of the tasks prepared by the organizers. The first two were related to song and dance folklore - to recognize two popular Dobrudja folk songs and two popular Dobrudja folk dances and then to perform them. The third task was a culinary one - to prepare a traditional Dobrudja dish with a minimum number of ingredients.
A jury composed of the singer Stoyan Varnaliev, Petar Svilenov - a dancer in PFA "Dobrudja" and Stefan Kalev from Dobrudja Media Group, evaluated the performance of the participants, and in all three tasks the first places were won by the amateur dancers of the Community Center "Geo Milev" from Zhitnitsa.
The member of the jury Petar Svilenov gave an open lesson for the attendees, showing the steps of a forgotten dance from Dobrudja region .
The festival day also included three workshops. In them, young and old had the opportunity to weave "Lazarus wreaths", practice "loom weaving", or knead dough and shape figurines.
Guests of the festival were the deputy mayor of Dobrichka municipality Diko Ivanov and the chairman of the Municipal Council of Dobrich Krasimir Nikolov.
